Best snowfall of this winter and it ROCKED🤘🏻
As a reminder for the snow chasers. If you don’t mind boondocking and can read a map you will have a good time. Don’t expect it to be a family trip, groom trails closed April 1. Respect private property, it’s is clearly marked. It’s going to be sunny and warm but if you are itching for one last ride, grip it and rip it. #miweather #marquetteToday’s update….still snow in the two pink areas but the blues are gone or about gone. WEATHER UPDATE via Midwest Weather >> -(2nd) Snowfall Forecast Saturday-Tuesday-
A long-lived major winter storm will bring significant snowfall accumulations to a large portion of the region this weekend and into early next week. There is still high uncertainty in the white-circled area because of the sharp cutoff from warm air advection and dry air. The final snowfall forecast will be released mid-morning Saturday.
Snow & Ice ~ Accumulations of 18-24" are expected in portions of MN, SD, and ND where long-lasting major travel impacts are expected from two waves of significant snow. A large area of the region will at least see heavy accumulations (5"+) that'll cause widespread travel impacts for multiple days. A sharp cutoff is expected somewhere in the white-circled area where amounts could go from 20" in St. Cloud to just a few inches in Rochester, Minnesota. Some ice is expected along and just south of the I90 corridor as the snow gradually turns to rain, surface temperatures will be cold enough for ice accumulation on roadways, causing even more travel impacts.
Timing ~ This is the first timing map so the ranges are quite wide yet, but an updated timing map will be released tomorrow. Snow will gradually expand northeast through the afternoon and overnight hours tomorrow. The snow will start light, so any travel impacts on Saturday evening should be minor. The heaviest of the snow won't be until Sunday, especially along and north of I90. In those areas, a few breaks are possible, but there'll be accumulating snow for 24-36 hours straight, with less time for snow south of I90 before a switch to rain is expected. #miweather ... Going to put it out there.... usually don't ride the lower but I have a free day and zero miles on the sleds this year. Hoping for some guidance on if we could get out somewhere around the purple area on the map? Just need a spot to unload and ride. Any help would be great!
