Sleet has caused roads to quickly become slippery this evening. We've measured a half inch of Sleet or Ice Pellets as of 8:00 P.M. EDT this evening in at WFO Marquette in Negaunee Township. As the precipitation switches over from sleet to freezing rain,
roads will stay slippery until treated. If driving through 11 PM
EDT, use caution as surfaces could change quickly and drive

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> A system will bring a wintry mix to the region tonight into Saturday morning. Areas closer to the Soo could see more sleet, but areas between there and the Straits of Mackinac could see significant accumulations of ice greater than a quarter inch. Some freezing rain possible as far south as the M-32 corridor, but not as much is expected this far south, with all rain expected even further south of this. Combined with some gusty winds, power outages will be possible. WEATHER UPDATE via TV6 & FOX UP >> First Alert Weather Days are in effect for Friday through Sunday for the entire U.P. This is due to the likelihood of icy roads developing. We're still on track to get two main rounds of precipitation with the next storm system.
The first round comes tomorrow through Saturday morning with freezing rain/rain/sleet. The second round comes Saturday night into Sunday.
The track of this system still remains unclear for Sunday and snowfall axis. Regardless, we're expecting sloppy roads.
